3 Tasty Turkey Burger Recipes

Looking for the most AMAZING healthy turkey burger recipes? Look no further — these recipe are easy, fast, and is FULL of deliciousness!

Earlier this week I mentioned how I’m aiming to get my fitness back in order, well along with that is getting my diet back in order!

Now I’ve considered many ways to reboot for the New Year. There’s the Whole30 diet, Keto, Paleo, Intermittent, etc…. But after careful consideration I have decided to do NONE of them! That’s right, I’m quitting the diet fads and aiming for something crazy different. It’s called… Healthy Eating!

Insane concept right? 2018 for me is all about Balance. Balance of the mind, body, soul and food. Whenever I join a trend I never seem to find the balance of it all, so I’m aiming to just do me. And instead of restricting foods, I’m aiming to find new ways to make my favorite things healthier. For example, mixing up my BURGERS!

Foster Farms is the leading producer of organic turkey in the Western United States and their Ground Turkey is healthy, leaner and a lower calorie alternative to ground beef and super juicy!

With 93% lean, it’s the perfect balance of fat that you need to make a burger delicious and to fuel your body. Fat is your friend loves! Even better about Foster Farms is that it’s joined the shelves at mnay Costcos and Targets along the West Coast.

Now when Foster Farms asked to collaborate with me, I jumped at the chance! Especially because I’m a West Coast Gal and I love eating local products. However I wasn’t sure what to cook. But after a little turn of the wheel I realized the possibilities were endless with BURGERS!

While I’m gluten free and trying to stray away from breads at the moment this tasty burgers would be even better on a bun or even on top of a divine salad! Endless choices guys! ENDLESS!

3 Healthy On The Go Snacks!

STOP. TAKE A MOMENT. BREATHE. and LIVE VIBRANTLY.

IMG_4344.jpg

Lately, I’ve been feeling like that’s an impossible task.

The past few months have been a complete whirlwind with the production & post of Tacompton. Life’s been just go, go, go. And because of that, there have been consequences. Like me countlessly dropping things, multiple times locking myself out of my house, spills, mishaps, constantly late, text message errors, spelling errors…Yes, I’ve been hustling and getting things done, but on the tail end of that has been me… a total HOT MESS.

Now I’m sure you’re wondering what Shine Organics, has to do with me being a HOT MESS. And to be honest I wasn’t sure at first either. But then I realized they have literally been my saving grace over the last week! Not only does the Calm Shine Organics literally calm me, it provides me with all the nutrients I need in between my crazy moments.

Little did I know when I picked up these guys at Target this past Saturday that they would keep me from being HANGRY, calm me when I locked myself out of my apartment & the perfect replacement at work when my frozen grapes had gone bad.

I’m sure there’s a proper way to blog about life… I, of course, have no idea how that works…. so I’m just gonna start off with the incidents of this past weekend and relay how Shine Organics saved me time and time again.

You see I love the entertainment industry, but the hours can be grueling and it can leave very little personal time. So I truly savor my weekends. ME time has never rung so true. And when I say ME time, I truly just means working out & grocery shopping at like the 10 places I need to go because I’m a weirdo with a whole bunch of dietary needs.

But this weekend I knew I was gonna do something CRAZY!! I was adding Target to my to-do list. Why?

Well because I missed it. I hadn’t been there in ages & I knew I wanted to wander about. Relax a moment. Probably find something I  didn’t need, but would convince myself otherwise (side note: I did… definitely bought a new dress hehe). Target’s the best place and has all the greatest things.

Well, I don’t know if you’re aware, but it’s officially OCTOBER. AKA Halloween time & one thing that is very tempting at Target is the Candy Aisle. Cue Exhibit A to the LEFT!!!

Now I have self-control, I do. I swear. And I’m not just trying to prove it to you. But Halloween & just the holidays, in general, can leave me extra snacky. Is snacky a word? It is now.

Anyways, luckily, as I began to wander through the aisle of beautiful candy I saw Shine Organics from across the way. Cue SAVING GRACE #1.

There they were just waiting for me. Much more exciting than the rest of the things in the applesauce aisle (not that I don’t love applesauce), however seeing as I’ve been trying to live a healthier lifestyle and I was getting on the hangry side from running errands all day I decided it was probably best to indulge in  Shine Organics over candy 😛

So there I was standing between the candy aisle and fruit with three flavors in my hands. One didn’t seem like enough, three for a first try seemed like too much though. So I went with their flavors, Purity & Calm! They both sounded so appealing and the packaging just got to me, especially Calm.

Shine Organics is all about Superfoods & to LIVE VIBRANTLY. #LOVETHAT

With a mission:

We needed bolder flavor and better nutrition from our snacks. Shine Organics was created to make superfoods more accessible. At home or on the go, feed yourself nature’s best — real fruits and vegetables, chia seeds, and nutritious superfoods. Each pouch features a delicious harmony of ingredients, blended to support your entire wellbeing and nourish a healthy lifestyle. Shine from the inside out.

The wonderful thing about these guys is the fact that they don’t need to be refrigerated nor do you need any utensils. It’s like a smoothie pack to go that’s pure, organic, gluten free, dairy free, kosher & vegan. Between 90 to 130 calories & no added sugars, I can honestly say I’ve added these to my daily diet especially when in a crunch. I’ve actually started leaving a few in my car for those days when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Don’t let life get you down when things don’t go as planned! LIVE VIBRANTLY!!!

6 Whey-Free Protein Bars to Try

Copy of Contact (4).png

No way to WHEY!

Earlier this year I realized that I had serious bloating issues whenever I ate Whey (TMI) However it made absolutely no sense because it was supposed to safe for people who are lactose free…

Cue Detective Sam – I soon discovered an article on milk protein intolerance and it all made sense. Whey is made from the milk protein isolate which is what my body can’t handle.

So if you are suffering from severe bloating after eating Whey as well as any other source of dairy, you too may actually have a milk protein intolerance instead of the commonly heard of lactose intolerance or milk allergy.

What’s even crazier is if you have a milk protein intolerance you may also suffer from anemia, which I do! REMINDER: I’m not a real Dr. Sam so while my father wishes otherwise, please consult with a professional before making any serious changes to your diet.

Anyways… back to the protein bars! So the other day when @fit_pham posted about different types of protein bars, I thought I would do some of my own investigating and find Whey-Free, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER Protein Bar because they are often far and few in-between.

Some were good, some were great and some were HORRIBLE!
These are my Top 6 FAVORITES!

*Please note this research was done with only trying Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bars! If you are looking for other favors, I’d also recommend RXBAR Protein Bars because they are seriously delicious and are made with few ingredients and are all natural!

And if you’d like to learn more about Milk Protein Intolerance please read below and explore all that Google has to offer 🙂

Milk protein intolerance

Milk protein intolerance is thought to affect well over 40% of the population. Milk (protein) intolerance causes a delayed response, taking up to 3 days to cause symptoms, and can result in a wide range of chronic symptoms such as irritable bowel (IBS), bloating, constipation, migraines, headaches, runny nose, sinusitis, lethargy, skin rashes, eczema and low mood. These delayed reactions to milk proteins are easily tested for by measuring milk-specific IgG antibodies in blood. This food-specific IgG test does not test for milk allergy or lactose intolerance though and it is not available on the NHS.

If you have milk allergy or milk protein intolerance then you should avoid all animal milks as the milks from cows, sheep and goats are all very similar. However, if you have lactose intolerance then you can try lactose free cow’s milk; remember though that a lot of people suffer from both lactose intolerance and milk protein intolerance together. Luckily now there are many different alternatives to milk, as well as lactose free milk, appearing on our shelves which make managing milk intolerance and milk allergy a lot easier. There are also stringent regulations for labeling of processed foods which means that if milk or milk proteins have been used in the process then it should say on the label; checking labels is very important when it comes to allergies and intolerance.
