Trying to explain Thanksgiving to a foreigner is easier said then done. If you are an American, you probably have never considered how weird Thanksgiving is, especially through the perspective of a Brit. “Thanksgiving is the day when Americans eat way too much and then sit around and talk about how great it is to be American. In short, it’s just like every other day of the year, except this time, we get the day off from work to do it and the feast is bigger than normal and more family is present for an actual sit down meal.”
I had to explain Thanksgiving and Black Friday to my co-workers at my internship this week and it was by far one of the funniest things I have had to do while working there. And actually stores in the UK are starting to take full advantage of Black Friday, but no one in the UK understood why Black Friday is happening. Which is quite entertaining!
So Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone back home! I wish I could be there to celebrate the feast, be a part of the family drama, and then lounge around on the couch for the next 24 hours!
